Healthy investments

The new Comprehensive Cancer Centre is set to have a private floor dedicated to serving international full fee paying patients, the revenue from which will help subsidise the delivery of services for local patients.

The proposal was endorsed by the Age:

Great idea I reckon, and one I’m proud to have put on the table way back in 2012:

2013 Anti Poverty Week talk

Last October I was invited to give a keynote at an Anti-Poverty Week conference held at the Fitzroy Town Hall. I spoke about poverty and inequality and how disappointing Australia’s performance has been on these fronts over the last few decades. My slides are posted here.

My new place to post

As Dean of one of RMIT’s largest Schools — Global Urban and Social Studies (http://www.rmit.edu.au/about/our-education/academic-schools/global-urban-and-social-studies/) — I come across a lot of great stories to tell.

As a career academic who has been researching and writing about politics and economics for a few decades now, I get quite a few requests for papers and talks I give.

This site is devoted to both my School and to my writings and thoughts on contemporary political economy.

Feel free to contact me if you want further information about my publications or research interests.
